SUMMARY:Lewis Hine Pictures America
DESCRIPTION:Lewis Hine Pictures America \nThe Frick Art Museum\, Through May 17 \nCaptured more than 100 years ago\, these photographs by Lewis Hine depict the lives of immigrants and laborers — including Pittsburgh steelworkers. Wisconsin-born photographer Lewis Hine trained his lens on (often harsh) scenes of reality at the dawn of the 20th century: crowds of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island\, child laborers toiling under dangerous conditions\, laborers sweating in punishing industrial environments. A touring exhibit of more than 70 rare photographs also includes some of Hine’s work in the Pittsburgh region\, documenting the men behind Pittsburgh’s booming steel industry. \nFind more information here! \nFind more events going on in Pittsburgh here!

SUMMARY:59th Carnegie International – If the word we
DESCRIPTION:59th Carnegie International – If the word we \nPresented by: Carnegie Museum of Art\nDates: May 2\, 2026 – January 3\, 2027\nLocation: Carnegie Museum of Art\, 4400 Forbes Avenue\, Pittsburgh\, PA 15213\, and four partner locations across the city\nAdmission: Included with museum admission \nAbout the Exhibition: \nContemporary artists from around the world bring new work to the vaunted Carnegie International\, Pittsburgh’s signature show. Organized every four years\, the Carnegie International is the longest‑running exhibition of international art in North America . \nThe 59th edition\, titled If the word we\, is the most collaborative and far‑reaching to date. Curated by Ryan Inouye\, Danielle A. Jackson\, and Liz Park\, the exhibition features 61 artists and collectives from around the world—including a record 36 newly commissioned works created specifically for the show . \nThe title is drawn from a commissioned catalogue essay by writer Haytham el‑Wardany. It approaches the first‑person plural “we” as an open and evolving proposition—shaped by listening\, translation\, and transformation—rather than a unified subject. \nFind more information here! \nFind more events going on in Pittsburgh here!
