SUMMARY:Lewis Hine Pictures America
DESCRIPTION:Lewis Hine Pictures America \nThe Frick Art Museum\, Through May 17 \nCaptured more than 100 years ago\, these photographs by Lewis Hine depict the lives of immigrants and laborers — including Pittsburgh steelworkers. Wisconsin-born photographer Lewis Hine trained his lens on (often harsh) scenes of reality at the dawn of the 20th century: crowds of immigrants arriving at Ellis Island\, child laborers toiling under dangerous conditions\, laborers sweating in punishing industrial environments. A touring exhibit of more than 70 rare photographs also includes some of Hine’s work in the Pittsburgh region\, documenting the men behind Pittsburgh’s booming steel industry. \nFind more information here! \nFind more events going on in Pittsburgh here!

SUMMARY:Falstaff
DESCRIPTION:Falstaff \nPresented by: Pittsburgh Opera\nDates: Tuesday\, April 28 – Sunday\, May 3\, 2026\nLocation: Benedum Center\, 7th Street and Penn Ave\, Pittsburgh\, PA 15222\nRun Time: Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes\nLanguage: Sung in Italian with English supertitles\nTickets: Start at $10 (student tickets) | Box office: 412-456-6666 \nAbout the Opera: \nShakespeare’s lovable lush hatches a scheme\, and hilarity ensues in this favorite by Verdi. Beloved buffoon Sir John Falstaff has fallen on hard times. Being a ladies’ man (or so he’d like to think)\, he drunkenly schemes to cash in on his wit and charm by wooing the wealthy wives of Windsor\, Alice Ford and Meg Page. However\, when these women discover he has sent them both identical love letters\, they hatch a plan of their own to teach Falstaff a lesson he won’t soon forget . \nThe music matches the merriment and mischief of this madcap romp. See why Verdi’s buoyant comedy is considered one of the best comedic operas of all time . \nThis production marks the end of Pittsburgh Opera’s season and the retirement of General Director Christopher Hahn after 25 years. “Falstaff was in many ways the culmination of Verdi’s remarkable career\,” says Hahn. “Everything he’d learned in his life went into its gorgeous music. Plus\, Falstaff is a comedy\, and I wanted to finish my career with a smile” . \nConductor: Antony Walker\nStage Director: Crystal Manich \nPerformance Schedule: \n\n\nTuesday\, April 28 – 7:00 PM (audio commentary available for patrons with visual impairments) \n\n\nThursday\, April 30 – 10:30 AM (Student Matinee for grades 3–12) \n\n\nFriday\, May 1 – 7:00 PM \n\n\nSunday\, May 3 – 3:00 PM (free childcare available for children ages 2–12) \n\n\nFind more information here! \nFind more events going on in Pittsburgh here!
