Shutterbugs will find a creative safe haven at Developmint in Aspinwall.
Developmint: Aspinwall’s Service and Creative Photography Hub
The shop on Aspinwall’s Brilliant Avenue offers a full range of analog and digital services, including film processing and printing; albums; calendars and other customized keepsakes; digitization of old images; photo restoration; slide-show presentations; and colorization of black-and-white film.
Developmint sells, trades, and repairs cameras and accessories. Photography classes, from basic to portraiture to slow-exposure night shooting, are also on offer.
A Vision and a Passion
“We do it all,” says Nick Sinacore, who has over a decade of experience in photographic retail and imaging.
“I’m a business owner, but it goes beyond that,” he says. “I get excited about helping people and guiding them in their photographic journey. This is the culmination of everything I’ve learned about the business.”
Sinacore loves that 35 mm film is having a moment, especially among young photographers. “It’s like vinyl records and classic cars,” he says. “There’s a whole generation that has known nothing but digital, so film is new and exciting for them.”
Experience and Emotional Work
In his career in photography, Sinacore has worked with the Senator John Heinz History Center, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the National Amusement Park Historical Association and many other institutions, as well as families who want photo albums and slide shows to commemorate milestone occasions, like an 80th birthday or college graduation.
“We mint memories into lasting treasures,” Sinacore says. “We can take negatives from decades ago and develop images people can cherish.
“When a client tears up over something special we have created, I tear up a little, too.”
Camera purchases come with a free one-hour lesson.
