Natural Re: Collections
Through June 25
Did you know there’s an art gallery inside the Frick Environmental Center? On display through June 25 is Natural Re: Collections, featuring local creators and artist collaboratives. It’s a great way to start or end a long walk through nature at nearby Frick Park.
Full Moon Sound Bath
June 1

An Evening with Author Wally Lamb

Seven-time New York Times bestselling author Wally Lamb visits Riverstone Books to discuss his latest novel, The River is Waiting, which tells the story of a young man dealing with tragedy in the wake of new fatherhood, addiction, unemployment, and eventually, imprisonment. Lamb will discuss the creative process behind his new book and sign copies for attendees in Squirrel Hill.
Lunch Pail Lecture: The Duquesne Club’s Origins and Henry Clay Frick’s Role

Learn about The Duquesne Club, a 153-year old private social club in downtown Pittsburgh, with a long list of distinguished members that includes Henry Clay Frick himself. Historian Rachel Colker will cover the club’s Civil War origins, industrial-age stories and more. This new lunch-and-learn lecture series at The Frick Pittsburgh features engaging info on current exhibitions, Pittsburgh history and the Frick family. Guests are welcome to bring a bagged lunch or order food from the on-site cafe.

Unblurred: First Fridays on Penn Avenue

Either before or after Garfield, make sure you head down to Bloomfield for the Unblurred: First Friday art crawl. The two night markets are meant to feed off one another and bring people to the neighboring communities for an evening of shopping, music, art and food. Spanning the 4800 to 5500 blocks of Penn Ave., Unblurred showcases the quirky side of Pittsburgh, from exhibits at small art galleries and installations at Pittsburgh Glass Center to dance classes at Los Sabrosos Dance Company.

East Liberty Public Art Walking Tour
June 6
East Liberty is full of hidden artwork — and art aficionado Morton Brown is ready to show you where to find it. Join Brown for a walking tour, on which you’ll learn about Shady Liberty, Pittsburgh’s first artist-designed pedestrian bridge with glass sequin fencing and painted patterns — as well as Convergence, To Be Human, a 17,000-square-foot social commentary mural on the façade of Duolingo HQ, among other public artwork. The 90-minute tour begins at East Liberty Presbyterian Church and traverses the surrounding urban streetscape.
