Mulching Party
Aug. 6, Bloomfield
Street trees don’t just look pretty — they reduce urban heat islands, capture dust and fumes from cars, prevent street flooding and provide many other benefits. Keep Bloomfield looking and feeling good by mulching and weeding street trees along Liberty Avenue with Tree Pittsburgh. The nonprofit will provide safety gear and tools to all volunteers.
Aspinwall’s Big Night Out
Aug. 6, Aspinwall Baseball Fields
Aspinwall’s annual, volunteer-run community celebration offers activities and entertainment for all ages. A full evening of family-friendly activities will keep children busy, while grownups (with ID) can enjoy samples from local breweries. A quartet of local restaurants will be selling fare, while the band Stealing Time headlines the onstage entertainment. The free event kicks off at 6 p.m.
Russell Peters
Aug. 6-8, Pittsburgh Improv
Named one of the 50 Best Comics of All Time by Rolling Stone, Peters is bringing his internationally-renowned stand-up performance to the Waterfront for three nights. His previous specials have aired on Showtime, Comedy Central, Netflix — where he was the first comedian to receive an exclusive special — and other major platforms.
Fire + Ice Cream HOT Jam
Aug. 7, Pittsburgh Glass Center
Turn up the heat with live glass blowing demos and blasting furnaces — then cool down with ice cream and live ice-sculpture carving from Mastro Ice! This free, monthly event at the Pittsburgh Glass Center isn’t one to miss.
Shadyside Summer Music Series
Aug. 8, Walnut Street
Relax with late afternoon jazz by local group Jazzmania at a charming parklet on Walnut Street. It’s the perfect way to wind down after an afternoon of shopping and dining — or a fun way to kick off a night out.
Reuse Reunion 2026
Aug. 9, Westinghouse Park
Get crafty with art activities for all ages! Search through “treasure tables” filled with free supplies — then swap artwork, fabric and yarn with fellow creatives. Enjoy this free event at Westinghouse Park, hosted by the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse.
Reservoir of Jazz
Aug. 9, Highland Park
Highland Park will be filled with the melodic sounds of jazz musicians Lee Robinson & ISKA. Robinson, the founding member of the ISKA quartet, blends improvisational jazz with funk, fusion and contemporary music. While you’re there, visit vendors including PGH Crepes, Barbirou Greek Gyro, Ear Candy by Amy, BeBop Originals, Art by C.Lyons, Art by Armani and Abby Nnaji. Children’s activities are available as well. Stay for Summer Soul Line Dancing after the concert!
