Mondays Brewing Company sits in the former space of Hough’s Taproom, the longtime Greenfield pub that nurtured the craft-beer scene. It’s the second location for Mondays, which started in Peters Township several years ago.
Relax With a Pint at Mondays Brewing Company in Greenfield
Sam Fee, a Washington & Jefferson College professor of computer science, launched Mondays during the pandemic to indulge his longtime passion for making beer. He says he chose the name Mondays because it’s the day that many brewpubs are closed, “but the one day you most need a beer.” On tap are lagers, IPAs, and sours, plus ales of every sort, brewed at the Peters facility and through occasional collaborative ventures with other breweries, including most recently nearby neighbors Abstract Realm Brewing Company and Hazel Grove Brewing.
The brothers behind the food truck Smashed ’N Fried have set up shop inside Mondays, serving their burgers and fries as well as Maryland crabcake sandwiches, chicken tenders, and coconut shrimp. Fee was drawn to Greenfield for its neighborhood vibe and to fill the void left by Hough’s.
“Our two driving missions are to make the best beer we can and to build community. Greenfield has a pre-existing community that just needed a place where people could gather again,” he says. “We’re not exactly the same as Hough’s, but we’re paying homage and taking it forward.”
