Pittsburgh summer events bring the city to life with music, festivals, outdoor movies, and neighborhood celebrations happening all season long. These summer events offer something for everyone, from big concerts and cultural festivals to relaxed park gatherings and family-friendly activities.
Pittsburgh’s June and July 2026 Summer Events
Appalachian Spring

Bach, Beethoven & Brunch
June 21-July 26, Mellon Park
Each Sunday morning, classical music fills the air at picturesque Mellon Park. Spend your summer mornings with groups including River City Brass (June 28), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (July 19) and more.
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in Concert
June 26-28, Heinz Hall
The PSO’s popular series of movie-score performances — in which the symphony accompanies a film, projected above the stage — continues with the middle chapter in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
OpenStreetPGH
June 28, Downtown/South Side, and July 26, Strip District/Lawrenceville
The streets are shut down to vehicular traffic and given over to cyclists — and walkers, and joggers, and roving entertainments, and kids and pooches — in this summer celebration from the folks at BikePGH. Arrive early for free outdoor fitness classes, live music and more.
Mean Girls
July 7-12, Benedum Center
The hit movie becomes a crowd-pleasing musical in this hit adaptation, staged at the Benedum Center by the Pittsburgh CLO. You’ll leave in a good mood — and empowered by the show-stealer I’d Rather Be Me.
On Topic: Free Expression with Jacob Mchangama & Nadine Strossen
July 21, Alphabet City
Former ACLU director Nadine Strossen and Jacob Mchangama, author of Free Speech: A History from Socrates to Social Media, discuss the vital importance of free speech in the United States and around the world.
Dave Matthews Band
July 24, The Pavilion at Star Lake
If you’re in the group’s legions of fans, you already have tickets for this summer evening with Dave Matthews Band. If you’re less familiar, hit the lawn and enjoy feel-good, danceable music.
An Evening with Joe Avati
July 26, Kelly Strayhorn Theater
An Australian comic of Italian descent, Joe Avati’s observational, family-focused standup has won him loyal fans around the world — both young and old, as Avati’s shows are avowedly G-rated.
La Dolce Vita
July 26, Allegheny Country Club
The annual fundraiser benefitting Pittsburgh Festival Opera takes an Italian twist — or should that be a spritz? — with a big band, cocktails, dancing and more.
Jay Pharoah
July 31-August 1, Pittsburgh Improv
The longtime SNL star comes to the Homestead comedy club for four shows over two nights. Expect some uncanny impersonations; Pharoah is one of the most gifted impressionists in the show’s storied history.
French Moderns
Through October 11, The Frick Pittsburgh
Masterpieces from artists including Matisse, Renoir and Degas will be on display at the Frick this summer. This survey of 19th- and 20th-century French art is worth a long visit — or a scheduled stop, as the Frick has planned a number of events that will offer a deeper exploration of the exhibition.
