The UpstreamPgh 25th anniversary celebration marks a major milestone for an organization that has spent decades restoring local waterways and protecting the environment. This year, you can join them in celebrating all their hard work with a year full of events.
UpstreamPgh Marks 25 Years With Music and Conservation in Frick Park
A 25-year effort has turned a formerly polluted creek into a gem of the city’s watershed. The nonprofit behind that effort is planning to celebrate. UpstreamPgh, formerly the Nine Mile Run Watershed Association, incorporated as a nonprofit in 2001. Twenty-five years later, their work has rehabilitated waterways in Frick Park. It has also supported conservation efforts elsewhere.
Celebrations are planned throughout the year. The main event is the organization’s inaugural Turn It Upstream Music Festival. It is set for June 26 in Frick Park Hollow. Beloved documentarian and writer Rick Sebak will emcee the event. The festival will feature performances from Beauty Slap, NASH.V.ILL, Colatura, The Anonymous Chronicles, and BusCrates. Tickets and more information are available on their website. The site also includes information on how to volunteer and support the organization’s work even long after the music festival is over.
